The Birth of LAMSA: Relieving Poverty Through Football

In a world where access to displacement of individuals remains a challenge for many, the story of LAMSA emerges as an opportunity in disguise. Founded in September 2022 by Luis and Max, two Spanish students with hearts brimming with compassion, LAMSA began its journey at the entrance of the Liberian Refugee Camp.

The encounter with the inhabitants of the camp was a revelation for Luis and Max. Witnessing the stark poverty and the community’s fervent love for football, they knew they had stumbled upon a chance to make a real difference. With unwavering determination, they set out to establish LAMSA, a project aimed at providing essential support to the over 60 children who make up the LAMSA Academy.

The Path to Empowerment

Luis and Max’s path to founding LAMSA is nothing short of serendipitous. Initially setting out on a volunteer mission to another destination, fate had other plans in store for them. Through a series of unforeseen events, they found themselves standing at the entrance of the Liberian Refugee Camp in Ghana.

Upon their arrival, they were immediately struck by the profound poverty and the resilient spirit of the community. It was a moment of clarity for Luis and Max, a realization that they were meant to be here, among these people, making a difference.

Driven by compassion and a deep sense of purpose, Luis and Max made a life-altering decision to dedicate themselves to the well-being of the community. They knew that they couldn’t turn a blind eye to the struggles faced by the children and families living in the camp. Thus, the seeds of LAMSA were planted, and their journey of impact began.

The journey of LAMSA is a testament to the transformative power of sport. Through football, they aim to not only provide a platform for physical activity but also to instill essential values such as teamwork, perseverance, and humility in the players. Their academy consists of three teams: U-10, U-13, and U-15, each undergoing rigorous training sessions three days a week.

Challenges and Triumphs

Despite their commitment to empowering players, they face numerous challenges along the way. Providing access to essential kits and playing materials remains a constant struggle, but they refuse to let these obstacles deter them. With the support from their dedicated team and generous donors, they continue to push forward, determined to make a lasting impact on the lives of our players.

As we celebrate the achievements of LAMSA and the children they serve, we invite you to join in their mission. Together, we can create a brighter future for the next generation, one goal at a time. Let us stand united in our commitment to empowering and uplifting those in need, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
